[edit] 1800 Añejo Review

The first thing I said after my first taste of this tequila is "damn good!". I said the same thing after the second sip, but with more stress on the "damn". 1800 has always seemed like one of those tequilas that always had potential (especially when I knew a lot less about tequila and 1800 seemed like the expensive stuff) but never really measured up when my taste buds developed (and developed a taste for $40+/bottle tequilas). But this anejo is, well, damn good! Wait, let me grab a glass so I can do this right... :)

Ok, we'll start like Josh does - smell and legs (hmm... never mind) - smells OK; not exactly HSS or 1942, but nothing to worry about either. Coats the glass nicely (not sure why that matters but whatever). :) On to the good stuff... No bite, sweet and oakey, mellow and not too complex, but not simple either. Very clean after-taste. Doesn't linger long, but doesn't run away either (why do I keep thinking of women while writing this review?). Again, DAMN GOOD! HIGHLY recommended for sipping or margs (at this price you can use it for margs tho those should not be overly-flavored margs - let the tequila shine through because it's DAMN GOOD). :) At least a 8.5 out of 10, maybe even a 9. Also it keeps well - this bottle I have is 2-3 weeks old and it's still damn good with no hints of oxidizing or bittering at all.
